I Never Told Her… But Her Name Was In Every Prayer

A story of love, heartbreak, and unspoken feelings

By Immy writerPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
I Loved her silently

She was the part of my life that never really belonged to me.
She never looked at me the way I wished she would,
And I never gathered the courage to say,
“I love you.”

I stayed close to her, living on the happiness her smile gave me,
And every night, I fell asleep drowning in thoughts of her.

We were never more than friends on the surface,
But inside, my heart was screaming stories she would never hear.
I watched from afar as she shared laughter with others,
While I silently held onto the hope that maybe one day, she’d see me.

I never confessed because I was afraid — afraid of rejection,
Afraid that telling her would change everything and leave me with nothing.
So, I kept my feelings locked away, hidden behind every word I didn’t say.

Then one day, she told me she was getting married — to someone else.
My world shattered quietly, the pieces falling without a sound.
But I smiled and congratulated her,
Because loving her meant wanting her happiness, even if it wasn’t with me.

I let her go, with nothing but memories and silent prayers.
Because sometimes, love isn’t about possession.
Sometimes, it’s about letting go — and hoping that one day,
She’ll remember the heart that loved her quietly, from the shadows.
