I Miss Us

I miss us…

The simpler times,

When we were young and dumb

I miss the innocence

Of our times together.

I miss that look in your eyes

That look that said

I was your everything

I miss the feel of your embrace

The soft kiss

The yearning and desire

I miss what it was like,

When people said we had

‘Puppy Love’

I miss the plans,

All the plans,

From the white picket fence,

To the future we could have had.

I love the way that you look at me

I imagine it everyday

Sometimes every second of the day

I miss when things were simple.

I miss you.

~

I wish I could go back in time

I wish I’d never said goodbye

I wonder what life would have been like

If it had just been you and me

Against the world.

My heart swells and cries

And then a part of me dies

Knowing that I may never know your love again

That I’m the reason it ended

That I’m to blame for all these emotions and feelings

Swirling around in my head.

I wish we could go back to those simpler times.

Be back on the bleachers in the school gym

Laughing, smiling, and carrying on

Like the world didn’t matter

Because we had each other.
