I’m quiet because my mind is not
It’s too busy thinking about what the next move going to be
Or listening and comprehending what people are saying
It doesn't have time to come up with words to say while doing everything else
So I’m quiet because I'm always focused
Sometimes zoned out or sometimes really zoned in
Both require brain power that can’t be used for speaking
So most of the time I’m silent
Speak when spoken to
But while someone is speaking I'm quiet
It's easy to interrupt me when I'm am talking
Because I will go mute so fast and start to listen
Go on for hours and hours you won't hear a peek out of me
Group conversations I am silent listening to what everybody else is saying
Keeping my opinion to myself
Don't ask why you didn't say anything
Because you were too busy talking is always going to be my answers
Don’t yell and say speak up because that going to further put me in my head
And keep me silent
I'm quiet and sometimes people who not annoys the hell out of me, especially when they force you to speak, and get mad when you don’t.

I so feel you, Emily~ It's like you read my mind on why I choose to be quiet then wrote it into this beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing~ ❤️
What an impactful, profound poem, Emily. Well done.
I love how you captured the depth of a quiet mind—it's not about silence, but the intense focus and thought happening beneath it.
I agree with Mother Combs, the first line speaks volumes to my existence!
💙 That first line is so true for me
