I just needed it

To prove to myself

That there's nothing left

That it's really over

You've become someone I don't recognize

Any longer

The stars faded away so fast so that their lights are blurry and dim beneath my gaze

And I know that the days

The weeks, the years

That passed in a haze

Of heartache and tears

Built me into someone

Stronger

I know my heart's telling me

That the endless waves in the roaring sea

And the quiet breeze of empty leaves

Whispering dreams

All used to be mine

Once upon a time

Truthfully I don't remember much

Only the warmth of that jagged touch

Whispers through the night

Leading up to vibrant sunrise

Endless stars in my eyes

Though it seems my heart got a lot of things wrong

And I'll just have to be strong on my own

But I'm glad that at least now I know

I'm not missing out on anything

No I'm not missing out on anything at all
