“18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18

New International Version

I’m not going

To ask you

The questions

You cannot answer

Like are you okay?

Because I know

That’s not

A question

You can answer.

Empty platitudes

In a time of

Grief

Aren’t The

Answer either.

But when I say

I am praying for

You

and that when

You feel

Like

The world

Is closing

In on you

Know that

I mean

Every word.

I am

Not

Going

To make any

Empty promises

Like everything

Is going to be okay

Because when the

Weight of grief

Is crushing you

So hard it numbs you

Those words hold

No meaning.

But I will

Be a shoulder

When you need

A hug.
