I Wish I Could Finish the Chapter
A tribute to My Amazing Nonna…Gone for nearly twenty years but her legacy lives on.
I wish I could
Finish the chapter
The one we wrote together
Dreams spelled out
In letters.
I knew you
For nearly twenty six
Years
Dreams and secrets
Shared,
Treasures and memories
A gift past on.
We knew you
But so much hidden
Times were different
Back then
Early starts hidden
Secrets revealed
In time
But no not
Reality.
Life is sometimes
Shaded in half
Truths
Because sometimes
The truth
Is just
Something buried
Long ago.
I wish I could
Finish the chapter
With you
One last story
One last song
One last dance
The way you danced
When you learned
My first book
Would be published
So much learned
Since then.
I wish
I could
Take a moment
And thank you
For all
You had given
Me.
Love,
Nourishment
Compassion
Determination
Sympathy
Empathy
All gifts
You shared
With me.
The way
You shared
Your love for
Words
The sound
Of poetry
The feel
Of a favorite book.
I wish I could
Read one more
Chapter with you
The way
I read the
Twenty third psalm
To you
As you faded
Away
Into the long
Good night
That cold November night.

Another sad one Michelle, looking for something up lifting. Good job -Nicely done.
This is so sad, and that opening pulls me in straight away.
