I’m Not An Open Book

Things Better Left Unsaid

By Earl W. PearlPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

How come so many people say their life’s an open book

Cos, I’m not asking anyone to give my “book” a look

The secrets of my life aren’t found in chapters on a shelf

I’m sorry, but there’s some things I’ll be keeping to myself

It’s hard enough just keeping half a step in front of sin

I’ve no desire in sharing shameful things I’ve dabbled in

Though people aren’t the confidants conviction points toward

I will however, open up confessing to the Lord

So don’t you worry, I’m aware how “perfectly” I’m flawed

But I believe there’s certain things you share with only God

Thanks Shirley. I read some people’s poems and they try so hard to sound “poetic” that they’re TOO deep. It’s hard to tell where they’re going with it. I want mine to be easy to follow.
