Fading Memories

The older I get, the more the memories fade.

By Reb KreylingPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

I hold onto the glimpses

The fleeting memories that remind me

That you were once in my life.

That we played and argued and loved each other.

Block towers and chasing each other through the house

Are fuzzy and fading.

We were both so young that the memories are

Impressions now, instead of true visions.

*

I have other memories.

Other events that happened

But they’re memories that people told me.

Or that I can see in pictures.

Not things I can recall.

I wish that I had more memories.

Or even more time with you.

But instead, I cling

To what I can remember

To pictures and stories

Hoping that one day, I don't lose them all

Very sweet, gothic, emotionally evocative, bringing back memories, and beautifully written.
