I'll Walk Through This Storm With You

Just As I Always Have.

You can let your tears fall,

And I will always wash them away;

We have walked through many storms together

And I still stand right here,

Right by your side.

The sky might always seem so dark to you,

Let me into your heart,

And I will let the sun shine through.

I know;

The pain never goes away,

But you have my love and care,

Always.

I will hold your hand through the flashing light,

Wind,

Rain,

And storm.

I will wake in the night,

And lend you my shoulder,

While tears roll down your cheeks,

So let them say,

"Men don't cry!"

For, I'll walk through this storm with you,

Just as I always have.

There is an old saying that still exists in this world we live in, that is "Men don't cry."

I live with a man who is in pain all day and night because of painful disabilities that are not visible to the eyes of a man or woman unless you know what to look for. That man used to hide his pain, because of embarrassment caused by this old saying.

I have seen my man cry, and I want the world to know it's time we stopped shaming men for crying.

Men are human; they feel pain too, and it's never ok to tell any human being in pain, whether male or female that it isn't ok to cry.

    This is so so true. Men are expected to be unrealistic pillars of strength in society's double standard. It is this caustic rejection of male emotions that has led to so many men struggling with mental " illness" which is actually a struggle with what society considers inadequacies. Well done and a Top Story well recognized. 😊

    It IS time to stop this. Many people have pain all day but some days it overwhelms. I'm sorry for him but glad he has you!! Congrats on a well-deserved Top Story, Carol Ann.

    I agree with you Carol Ann, I am new here on Vocal, but you are following me on Medium. I feel the way you do that men are only human and they feel pain just the way women do. You man has a good one in you, keep holding his hand through the pain. I have subscribed to you.

    Beautiful penned!!! Loved your line, "Men are human; they feel pain too, and it's never ok to tell any human being in pain, whether male or female that it isn't ok to cry."

    Some people stay silent with their pain. My grandfather was like that, too. I am so glad your man has you. Excellent relationship poem.
