There’s a monster in the attic
and he’s making quite a stink
I’m not usually one to panic
but I haven’t slept a wink
👹
The walls are shaking violently
and the floorboards, they’re a-creakin’
and that monster up above me
— I fear he’s not yet eaten
👹
I don’t want to make him angry
I don’t want him to come down
so I lie here without moving
and I do not make a sound
👹
Yet that monster stomps still louder
and he groans and growls and swears
he’s growing quite impatient
I just hope he stays upstairs!
👹
My mom claims it’s the furnace
and the monster’s in my mind
but me, I know better
I’m no kid — I’m nearly nine!
👹
My brother’s sleeping through this
— he’ll be the first to go
the monster’s gonna eat him
I’ve already told him so!
👹
That monster in the rafters
he’s belligerent and surly
but he’s gonna meet his match one day
if he wakes my dad too early!
👹👹
