I Have Tried It All

In all the decades

I’ve walked this earth,

I’ve tried, seriously

Tried from birth.

There are times

I’ve tried to change,

One day I’m mellow

But it felt strange.

Next time that I tried

I attempt high strung,

Where did it get me

Back where I’d begun.

***

So from there I tried

Loving to be my norm,

All I received is pain

I couldn’t transform.

***

Decided the opposite

And I tried to hate,

It was never really me

And I didn’t do great.

***

Maybe best if I tried

To start kissing arse,

Left me a bad taste

It was really a farce.

***

I tried kicking arse

As my next attempt,

But I failed here too

Ended up time spent.

***

It’s very possible

I need to conform,

Just cruise along

Feeling lukewarm.

***

Next I tried rebelling

I think it’s a winner,

No I’m mistaken

I was just a sinner.

***

The final conclusion

I’m feeling parched,

No quenching the thirst

Of my feral heart.
