I Have A Right To Be Magnificent

a poem

By Anika PylePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I am a volcano erupting

Not in anger but, like a laugh

Held in for too long, finally

Breaking free from the tone police

I am a Passiflora blooming

Divine and crazy, with

The crown of Jesus on my head

Screaming, “I AM HOLY TOO”

I am a coral reef shimmering

Before it went white

So electric and furtive

Proud of my spiny parts

I am a greater flamingo preening

Unabashedly, in the sunshine

I do not care if I am the only pink thing

I have a right to be magnificent.
