I Guess

a poem of self pity

By Stevi CPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I guess I was wrong.

Wrong to think we'd last,

Wrong to trust your love,

And wrong to let you hurt me.

But I was also right.

Right about your distance,

Right about you changing,

And right about you leaving.

I suppose it matters not,

I suppose I never mattered like I thought.

But then you give me reassuring words.

Soft like flowers, they speak.

Meant to give me the comfort I seek,

Only to confirm you make weak.

I guess you weren't what I thought.

I knew of your strengths but not your flaws.

I guess you changed your mind.

When I showed you mine.
