I Drowned

standing up inside myself

I Drowned

a conspiracy of my flesh

as i drifted away

from my mind

and all that i was told

was lost on me

that day

a conspiracy of my flesh

as the intangible

became

a stark reality

and the harshest

of burdens

to bear

it was a conspiracy of my flesh

and so my flesh conspired

and so my flesh corrupted

the skin of my mouth grew over

my eyelids melted together

my ear canals

became fused to the lobes

and my nose

just disappeared

i didn't care

because i couldn't feel

i couldn't feel

anything real

all my senses

beaten senseless

and everything that was me

was so,

just so,

very much so;

under the weather

under the swell

under the surface

and it was there

i drowned

i drowned standing up

i drowned inside myself
