I dream in black and white
{it’s static}
I think in black and white
I dream in your hue
It’s static
Static
Static pressure against my brain tissue.
I dream in black and white
I read black and white too
I wish I could step onto the words
And fall apart, but I lack the power to keep it together,
Passion I cannot eschew.
Your static eyes
Leap onto my head
Giving me a bruise
I can’t hide it, it’s in plain sight
Yet no one can actually read me,
It’s black and white and frighteningly
Blue.
I dream of love in the movies,
I dream of the green glass bottles of the past,
I dream of clearing out our static,
But I am colorless, it’s compassion you lack.
I lack accuracy, speed and smarts,
That’s why you think I’m brain dead
And why I love the arts.
If my favorite books and movies were a person,
I could live with them in a black and white jacket that holds me safe and free,
Not static but surging with vibrant, colorful electricity—-
A truly luminous sight.
I’d love to share that future defining gaze with them for one minute,
And see their sparkling light.
A minute is all it takes, like they say in love songs,
To have something or someone last forever,
—-But as long as I’m static
Everyone is covered in blue,
While I’m dreaming in black & white
My channel is open but narrow
It’s coming in cloudy
Where is my true love,
What channel are you?
