Sadly Beautiful

Like a deer stumbling upon a quiet stream in the woods,

I search for you.

Not a shallow puddle or a passing trickle.

I seek deep waters.

I thirst for something real, for You - alive and moving.

-

I'm so tired.

I catch myself wondering,

“Am I ever going to just sit and rest in that presence I keep hearing about?"

-

My sadness is the only thing feeding me.

It’s the first thing I taste in the morning

and the last thing on my mind at night.

And the noise surrounding me is absolutely relentless.

The hurtful voices, the news, the doubt in my own mind,

they keep pushing, asking the same question:

"Where is this God of yours?

It’s sadly beautiful, just like the title. Honestly, a lot of people who believe deeply go through this exact kind of desert moment.

Searching for something real when you are that tired is a lot to carry. It makes sense that the noise and doubt feel constant. Getting through the day when sadness is all you taste is a great way to describe how heavy it all feels.

She looks with grace, proud and dignified, and counts every pebble of the earth and the water, with a gentle heart that knows how to recognize mistakes and missteps. How will I repay the wrong that I did? Very beautiful—and just when I needed it. Ι changed the roles and made her more innocent than me — she searches for me even though I have made the mistake.
