I Do not Know Why You Love Me
A new form of poetry - 'Sandwich' poems
Could this be a new form of poetry? I call it a 'sandwich poem.':
I donβt know why you love me,
But Iβm so glad you do.

Sharing special moments
Is all I want to do.

From the rising of the sun
To the changeover to the moon,
π₯π₯π₯π₯
Thoughts of you possess me
Occupy every thought,
π π π π
I count my special blessings
May we never be apart,
π₯¬π₯¬π₯¬π₯¬
I donβt know why you love me,
But Iβm so glad you do.

[Author's note: I like to think of this as a new form of poetry called a "sandwich poem." The first and last stanzas are the same, representing slices of bread. In between are couplets of any format you like or any number of stanzas you like, as if you were making a sandwich. In mine, there is cheese, ham, tomato and lettuce; four couples, four ingredients.
This is about as close as I have ever come to writing a free-form poem because there is no rhyme in the couplets.
To all my poet friends, out there show me what you've got - what is in your sandwich poem!]
Till next time,
Calvin

Oooo, a sandwich poem, that's so cool! I can see this becoming popular. Yours is so lovely!
Excellent words and a great concept, it reminds me very vaguely of a ghazal but this is your unique creation
