I did pray for you

If our thoughts could talk.

The broken fragments of my mind is a motion picture of RX blues rattling the orange plastic container.

I yelled for you, but it was only from the clouds.

I asked you to stay, but again, only through the blinds of my salty faux eyes lashes.

*

I did pray for you as you were yelling but I was having Slow-Simmered Burgundy Beef stew with my newest commitment issue.

It consumed the rest of dusk and I didn’t think of anything else….

Which is why I haven’t figured it out yet, this is the reason things don’t last.

*

I peel my eyelids off to the white noise of our shattered promises.

It’s loud and vigilant.

If occasionally meant every night, it flickered vivid images.

*

My nude skin is cooled by the slippery satin covers on the unnecessary size of a bed that is meant to sleep more than one,

as I over-achieve every minute of the calculated number of slumber hours every night.

I did pray for you before I snored in solace, effortlessly.

*

I tore my clothes off from drenched coldsweats.

Awoken by the horror that remained which was the hollow shadows of 3am.

Something’s got to change this dialogue reoccurring in my head.

*

The steam of my ritual shower fogged the mirror.

It was 6am, as I dabbed the razor against the sink.

The hairs of my chin left a prickly film down the drain.

*

I arose and wrote a sonnet of a tasteful tone.

About velvet birds who sing in the morning,

regardless of who is watching.

*

A triumph of a new day was why they sang. Velvet birds are all around disguised as Braveheart's.

And so…..I did pray for you.

I can’t remember the last time a cup of coffee tasted this good.

*

Authors note

This is a dialogue poem, written from two perspectives conversing over one idea. This poem signifies the freedom in forgiveness, and the severity in choice.
