I Choose to Be Comforted

The message we’re often given is that comfort

is indulgence, gluttony, or laziness.

When we think of comfort, we picture someone in a recliner,

eating a mass of junk food.

But comfort comes from the Latin word Fortis -

meaning to strengthen greatly.

To comfort is to fortify,

to steady one’s own building process.

Because what is the purpose of building,

without strengthening the foundations?
