I Caught A Glimpse

Today was finally the day

I never thought I would see

Where finally I caught a glimpse

Of the life promised to me

Though what happened is largely unknown

Even to those who were there

But even for just a few hours

I lived our lives as a pair

I did everything that I could do

To hold on and never let go

So for that I will fight that much harder

For you always reap what you sow

I wish what I saw today was real

And thats how things really were

I can only hope you saw it too

And feelings in your heart they did stir

I know right now you are so fragile

Afraid to share what I saw with you

But in my heart of hearts today

I saw just what is really true

It’s all that I can think of right now

I saw the life I have been dreaming of

I only would have changed one thing

That you could show me your love

But sadly right now I do know

That dreaming is all I’ll get

I can’t escape the pull from you

Your life is like an oubliette

And so I shall hold on to hope

That you will want to join my life

And at the end of that day

I will go to sleep with you as my wife
