I Built Your Bones
"So why did you destroy it?"
I was your glasses.
I was the reason
you no longer saw
green blobs on the highway;
you could finally see
every individual leaf.
***
I was your bones.
I was the reason
you could finally stand,
and be happy with yourself.
Your only responsibility
was to keep us alive.
***
But instead,
you broke the glasses
and pulverized the bones.
You left me with nothing
but a pile of hurt and shame,
and all my work circling the drain.
***
Was it all not worth
anything to you?
Was it not worth
an explanation,
a goodbye,
or even a thank you?

I was going through some old poems saved on my computer and I noticed a folder called "Based On..." where I found some poetry I wrote based on musicals and episodes. I will posting a few of these throughout the course of the week for all of you to enjoy.

This poem is based on Callie Torres and Erica Hahn from Grey's Anatomy. I always feel a relationship that changes you or encompasses a big part of your life requires an explanation if it ends suddenly. Otherwise, someone, or maybe even both parties, can be left in a bad place.

Here are a few others for you to enjoy.

This was so deep and powerful! Fantastic poem!
Yes, relationship that ends suddenly and that too without any closure. That sucks so much! Loved your poem!
