I am worthless.
A fight for worth in a religion of hate.

I am worthless.
The words you spat on my face,
As you covered yours with grace.
Your smile that could melt butter,
You preach love to the outer,
When they come to the alter,
They see you, shining halo so straight and so perfect.
Let's journey and walk,
When really you talk ,
At me, not with me,
And hurt me, but tell me you love me.
I am worthless.
The words wash over my soul,
So the hole that I carry,
Of burden and Shame,
Is encouraged by you, but you say god, God.
He loves me but, there's always a but,
I'm not good enough.
To be me, as true as I know,
So you cut and you throw,
That the eyes of the others ,
Can't see what you've done.
Why? So you can stand tall ,
As you watch me bawl,
"I want you to get better"
Because boy you're a lesser.
I am worthless.
For a love so unconditional,
There sure are a lot of conditions,
But I get it,
you want me to be healed.
So I hope as I'm kneeled.
that this Diseased soul,
Would once again be made whole,
Because being gay means I'm broken,
but it's you that has spoken,
As I have been silenced by 'love.'
I am worthless.
When you rake at my thoughts,
On my own I have fought,
To just be ok, ok, ok, ok,
I give in,
I am living in sin,
But This is my truth,
Your prayer does not soothe.
Your oppression is pressing.
It is beating and messing,
With the minds of my people,
So as you build your steeple,
We are weeping.
"Love me for me."
You're too blind to see,
We are killing ourselves,
With shame and fear and rejection and oppression and bullying and pain
Yet loving is your main,
Focus?
We are not worthless.
We deserve to be heard.
Until it is right,
Not out of mind or of sight,
I will fight, I will fight!
I will no longer be cut,
Or silenced, or bruised,
My mind is mine,
Not to be used by you.
So let me say this.
One day there'll be bliss,
Where as people were equal,
And that hurt you have felt,
And those cards you were dealt,
The hateful words that were said,
That spin around in your head,
Will no longer define,
The person you are,
And that time is not far.
So be strong today.
And remember one thing,
You are worthy.
