I Am the River

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

All day long, I wait for the sun to go down

Anticipating the light going dim and dark

So I can lay my head down in the quiet

And go to sleep

Just go to sleep

So I can dream of you

I live for dreams of you

Where for a while, I can pretend you are still with me here

I can relive the memories of your warm touch

I live for dreams of you

I curl around my pillow

Wrapped up in an old t-shirt of yours

That still holds your fading scent

And I pretend it is you in my arms

And I allow myself to surrender to the memories of our love

I live for dreams of you

I live for dreams of you

Where for a while, I can pretend you are still with me here

I can relive the memories of your warm touch

I live for dreams of you

And I pray ….

I pray….

I pray....

I pray for God to release your soul for just a few hours

So you can come to me

I only ask for a few hours, for just a short while

for just a little while

I live for dreams of you

I live for dreams of you

Where for a while, I can pretend you are still with me here

I can relive the memories of your warm touch

I live for dreams of you

I live for dreams of you
