to a dearth of your eyes

but to the way my hands

create beautiful things

from bits and strings

of fairy dust and fairy wings

ephemeral playthings

as we all are

earth-bound creatures

made from stars

but we don't see

the essence

the incandescent iridescence

the luminescence

at our core

where reality should be

so if you don't see me

I am not personally

affected by your blindness

rejected and uncorrected

I am not unprotected

my heart not disconnected

from what I know

of myself

the unexpected unsuspected

strength of my glow

in the darkness

I will light the way
