I Am Me Not You
I like me very much and the boss does as well

I Am Me Not You
You told me what to write,
to wear, to not show I care.
Tell me to sit here,
I will just stand over there.
You said use more make-up,
light up your eyes.
That never took me by surprise.
I am me, not you, no painted smile.
The nasty looks you give people
are honestly vile.
So before you try to redress and change me,
look in a mirror, girl—at yourself.
Do you like what you see?
I go for the kind, helpful way,
where you are all you.
Please don’tdrag me
into your horrible frame.
At the end of the day,
you’re a worker just like me.
The difference is I am me—
what people get is what they see.
