I Am Her Mother

A mother’s divine calling in the face of shadows

By Lindsey UmfressPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

I am her mother

I am her truth amongst your lies

I am her mother

The comfort she craves in the dark

when she can’t wake you up at night

I am her mother

I am the sun that shines through your shadiness

I am her mother

By instinct, I know what she needs —

even when it's not labeled as “her best interest”

I am where she is free, not kept on a shelf to sit there and please

I am her stability, rooted in spiritual security —

not tossed around by a selfish fiend

There is nothing you can do to disrupt that

I am her peace

I grew her within,

and you push to have us live without

My motherhood is for His Glory

The motives of your fatherhood scream loud

I am her mother

I do not perform

Kindly, I ask:

Please, take your bow
