For the first time, I am dreaming.
Swallowed whole by the nebulas
Staining like spilled ink in the whites
Of eyes that are too wide, too open
To be anything other than terrified.
.
For the first time, I am screaming.
And it's razors down my throat,
Dragging truth and steel across
The soft nothings that come with
This new, fresh act of dreaming.
.
For the first time, I am dying.
The world is shrinking around me
And there is nothing left but the nebula
Of impossibilities wrapping long arms
Around me as though its you and it isn't.
.
For the first time, I am alone.
Drifting through the empty vacuum
Of a manifested dream that could never be,
A hallucination of purpose,
The simple break of a lucky mirror.

Dreams collide with reality, leaving emptiness behind.

Oh wow, this was so deep and hard hitting. Loved your poem!
Wow. This is just wonderful. <3
Damn. Artistry. This is. Fucking good. Like not good. Great. Better than Great. Like. Art, but art with purpose. And so very relatable. You just have a stunning, visceral way with words. They make me stop, think, feel, breathe deep, think, take stock and then think more. Feel more. Breathe more. This is just exceptional. So very well done, Silver. There are many amazing lines, but that last stanza just absolutely nails everything.
