I Am Addiction

Fighting Our Demons

By Earl W. PearlPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I'm counsel to those lacking wisdom

I’m inheritance left for the dead

The dancer without any rhythm

I'm the leader where no one is led

I’m the push in the back of the stubborn

I'm a book that should never be read

A ruler determined to govern

I'm the speaker where nothing is said

I’m the actor that’s waiting for action

I'm the gossip where rumors are spread

The wheel that spins without traction

I'm the bridegroom and anxious to wed

I'm the secret you're trying to keep

I'm that safe house whenever you fled

Like a shepherd misguiding the sheep

I'm the needle that's pulling your thread

I’m the shadow that offers no shade

I'm the sitter that tucks you in bed

Laws are broken when I am obeyed

I'm the butter and you are my bread

I’m the grease whenever there’s friction

I'm the hunger that needs to be fed

I go by the name of "Addiction”

I'm your future with nothing ahead

Wow! What an ending...This read like a very sobering riddle. Excellent job!
