How to Disappear — A Short Guide
1. Start quietly.
Stop talking.
Close your words in a memory,
Then throw them in the ocean.
2. Get out of your habits.
Change your direction.
The roads that remember you,
Stop making eye contact with them.
3. Erase the last letter of your name.
Write it on paper and then
Find it,
So that you yourself don't remember who you were.
4. Burn the pictures.
Or at least stop looking into their eyes.
Chew the corners of old albums,
Like time had chewed you.
5. Forget the count of day and night.
Take off the watch from your hands.
Freedom from time is a short death—
And you,
Whether you are dying slowly or you are alive, you never were.
6. Stop remembering anyone's name.
The world is made up of those people
Whose faces are remembered.
Don't be one of them.
7. Get lost in a new place.
It could be a small tree in the shade,
Or a stone in the middle of a jungle.
Hide your existence
In someone else's story.
8. Keep breathing,
But carefully,
As if every breath is a secret
Which must be hidden from the world.
9. If you have to meet someone,
Then meet only in dreams.
There you can be anything:
The wind, or the smoke, or just a feeling.
10. And when someone calls out your name,
then don't be upset.
You come back to your name—
you have already gone.
---
Remember:
To perish is an art,
there is an honor to not be.
And you,
if you read carefully,
then perhaps
a little bit of it
is already missing.
