From rags to riches

That’s the dream

To rise to the top

To be the cream

But what measure of wealth

Will you apply

When measuring impact

On the day you die

A bit morbid it seems

To speculate such

But will things you accumulate

Just gather dust

Possessions and money

We all leave behind

So what is your footprint

Being king or being kind

When others do follow

The footsteps you’ve made

Are you proud of the journey

The path that you’ve laid

Think not of the ending

Instead, of the now

Who will you be

The time is now

Determine your fate

In as much as you can

By authentically living

On purpose you plan

To be who you are

To act in accord

Define your own riches

That’s the reward
