What an eternity of a moment,
From my first vague memory of knowing that I am ALIVE,
To this clear moment of recognition that time
Has passed everything, except for this awareness of being.
I am still here.
What a miracle!
Such a dramatic story!
Past the spilled coffee of the morning,
And over the spiteful words,
The raised voices that were simply loud
To find a way over the wall build around the heart.
But now I write when it is quiet,
And the sun cannot see me.
I wonder at this agreement I made to stay here
For so long.
So, so long.
“When will I be done?” I ask myself.
“It’s a blink of the eye! Enjoy it!” I hear.
But, oh my, what a lifetime of a blink!
I have dragged myself, whether or not I knew it,
Through the circus of peaks and troughs —
Valleys of emotion that are quelling now to that
‘Blink of the eye’.
Each sorrow an eternity.
Each joy an infinity.
And here I sit still…
In wonder at the grandness of a plan.
About the Creator
Sabayo Matiku
I express the realities and frequencies that words are carried on, to speak to the heart in a manner that is simple and free. I've come to ruffle feathers and to polish the sky, to laugh and wonder.
