How Do You Change When You Don’t Know Where to Start

I try every day and fail

How Do You Change When You Don’t Know Where to Start

I stand on the edge of a moment,

wondering which way to turn,

the days roll by like a repeating song,

and I feel the same old rhythm in my bones.

I tell myself that change must come,

that I can bend my story into something new,

but when the mirror asks for answers,

I give it silence, not direction.

I walk through rooms with half-made plans,

setting fires that never catch,

promising myself that tomorrow is the day,

then tripping on the weight of yesterday.

How do you change when the path is fog,

when you want more than your hands can hold,

when every step feels like guessing,

and every guess feels wrong.

Maybe the start is smaller than I thought,

maybe it lives in a single breath,

one choice, not a thousand,

one honest step, not a perfect leap.

So I will begin where I am,

not where I dream to be,

and I will change by moving gently,

one quiet moment at a time.
