How did we come to be run by old men?

When did this happen?

How did we come to be run by old men

Please tell me

It happened when

Where did all the young folks go

Why are they hiding

Why has politics degenerated so

What is the conspiracy

That lies behind

The vilification of love

Compassion concern and understanding

Demanding peace

Cooperation

Populations not condemned to live

In perpetual fear

Of bomb and bullet

Here in our world

What shall become of us when

All the youngsters have left

To go someplace else

A world bereft

Of youth and talent

Enthusiasm

Joy

Youngsters to show us how

The future should be

It belongs to them

Now

May peace love and youth prevail

Over this dictatorship of skeletons

This hits hard for me especially because I come from a country whose president has ruled for more than 40 years. He’s above 90 and has a cabinet of old people as ministers. It’s sickening. In our case, young people are crushed whenever they try to fight. The future in my country is for the old so the young flee for their dear lives. Africa’s dictatorship is deep rooted, sadly!

It is so healing to see people speaking the truth and not mincing words. I love this premise πŸ’•
