How Could I

A sonnet of regret.

How could I leave you behind, feeling broken and worthless?

I must have been crazy to remove you, truly out of my mind;

Even now, without you, I feel breathless.

Eternity. A lifetime devoid of your essence;

Very lonely in a large, cold bed;

Desire. I crave your warming presence;

I cannot get you out of my head.

Reminded of sweet kisses and a sweeter embrace;

You are perfectly unique, one of a kind;

No matter how hard I try, I can forget your face.

I am forever stuck in this durable bind.

Full of regret, sadness, and woe;

How could I leave you behind;

How could I let you go?
