How can you tell a mother?
That she must mourn her child
With a gentle prayer, only.
How can you tell a mother?
When she has fallen apart
God's will be done, hope.
How can you tell a mother?
That this is the truth
That it's what you believe, not what you know.
Only hope can reassure her
The truth of the universe, man invented
To have something to cry about
How can you tell a mother?
That we'll never know
It's better to keep quiet.
How can you console her?
Take her in your arms without speaking,
Offer her your shoulder to cry on.
