How am I?

Do you really want to know?

I’m

surviving periodically,

now & then maybe,

odd Tuesdays & Thursdays.

This is a Friday

so, it’s up for grabs.

In other words,

I’m not.

I don’t exist.

I’m just a figment of your imagination.

Good grief!

Do you have a lousy imagination!

Seriously,

this is all the better you can do?

Want me to prove it?

I can, if you’ve got a few minutes.

It’s a simple matter

of solid matter being mostly empty space

made up of itty-bitty particles

so small they can be shot through

600 miles of solid lead

without hitting a thing!

(Those’d be quarks.)

Combine that with

our never-ending quest

to find out what

those itty-bitties are made of

mixed in with a little bit

of basic calculus

(that’d be limits of functions),

there ‘tain’t nothin’ there.

Or here, for that matter!

Now you have the answer

for the next time

your dad asks if

there’s anything

between your ears.

In other words,

Fair to partly cloudy,

expecting thundershowers

by mid-afternoon.

In other words sometimes,

I am.

Other times,

I'm not.

But usually it's,

I may survive a few more minutes.

Or not.

In other words,

Oh, haven’t you heard?

I died three months ago.

This is just inertia.

Now,

aren’chya glad

ya asked?

[to be spoken as rapid fire but clearly as possible.]

This is a fascinating bit of physics slash metaphysics to start my day, Randy! Intriguing and disorienting in equal measure.

  • Very relatable. I enjoyed it

Randy this is a breath of fresh air. How are you? a question people ask but never really want an answer. But you gave us a few and what a few.

  • So, Randy, how ya doin’? Love this!!! I’m gonna have to steal a few of these for myself!!!

How much do you want to know? Do you want the truth or just to feel good? Goodness- and how are YOU?

Ohh this is how I want to answer that question, it’s such a bs social construct to pretend everything and everyone is doing just peachy!

  • Hahahahahaha this made me chuckle. Loved it!

  • Look at you, always ready with a witty retort keeping us on our toes

Geez...sorry I asked. Fair to partly cloudy, expecting thundershowers, by mid-afternoon. But the evening will be cool, the air fresher after the showers. Blessings.

Love the authenticity and wittiness! Have you ever done stand-up comedy? You have the humor & witty thought patterns for it!

Blimey! At the first mention of quarks, I'd be nodding sagely, but completely bewildered inside. Made me chuckle though for its Randy-ness.

Interesting... And made clear sense. We always stretch the truth a bit when asked that question. Do they really want to know? They asked, so let the floodgates open to the fullest.
