A poem

Beacon in the darkness,

Halo of protection.

Echo of greater times,

Last flickering bastion.

Cupped hands,

Cradled flame,

Seeking to preserve,

This precious light.

So many mouths, blowing gusts of air,

Trying in vain,

To extinguish this flame.

We few join our hands,

All together, a shelter,

To save this little spark,

Flickering on the edge of extinction.

A new twig, a pine needle, here, and there,

Bring new life, growing warmth,

Greater light.

The halo expands, protecting, healing,

Our wounded spirits.

Soothing balm,

Rejuvenating glow.

Lighter spirits,

Stronger minds.

Resilient bodies,

Toiling away.

Join together,

Lifting the lantern,

Lighting the way.
