Hope, A Burning Desire
A short poem on unabashed faith for the a better future

The world that surrounds me burns as I steadily smoke my cigarette -
Flames engulf what is left of this town; ash falls to ash & dissolves into earth,
I ache with every gust.
Terror emits me, deeper than the depths of the raging blue sea,
I whisper to the winds, "Grant me cessation from this burning ground",
Light of the fire radiates the chilled waves, & terror is replaced by sanguinity.
Castaway among the sea, with hope nestled tightly into a seed -
Summertime heat lit the match, followed by the rotting of autumn,
& uprooted by winters winds, hope bred spring!
-
Flowers root through the brute soil, engulfing this new land with propitious life,
Unscathed by winter's winds, the petals glisten -
Renascence of my lifeblood, & new depths of my pith.
