Honest Adrift
A parable of truth, time, and the shallow promises of society

"Honest" was jettisoned into the ocean by a man called "Chalat".
Honest attempted to swim to an island.
As he emerged onto the shore, Honest curled up on the sand.
He looked around for a means of returning to the shore.
What the Honestas wanted to know was whose boat would come this way.
All of a sudden, Honest listened to a song from a distance.
He rose swiftly and turned an inquiring look in the direction of the noise.
A boat was coming to the island.
There was a little flag flying from that boat.
The word Happiness was inscribed on the flag.
It was the boat of Happiness.
Honest screamed to summon Happiness.
Happiness, when she heard it, said to Honest…
"No, no. I shall be miserable if. I consider you.
Listen, there are people in the world right now.
They tell the truth, but they are unhappy.
I'm sorry, Honest, I can't carry you in."
Happiness rose when his speech was done.
Time went by, and ''Position'' arrived.
''Position!'' shouted Honest to signal the Position.
''Position, Position, I am Honest. May I have your boat to row to land?''
And when Position heard this, he wheeled about the boat.
And then spoke to Honest, saying:
''No, no, Honest, you wouldn't be able to come and live with me.
Do you have any idea how hard it is for me to get the position I got?
You're my backup so if I leave you here I'll be fucked.
I'll lose the position. Either way, I won't live with you anyway.
Honest's eyes filled with tears as he gazed at the place he had so hastily deserted in despair.
I felt super, super lost in regards to myself. But all he could do was
wait, wait, and wait.
Then, a partial and broken melody was sung.
A boatful of "Khang Kaew" went steaming past. Honest shouted,
''Khang Kaew, Khang Kaew, may I board your vessel?''
"Who are you? How useful are you to us?"
Khang Kaew shouted and asked. ''It didn't work out the way I wanted it to last time, and I don't want to say much. I don't want my luck to change,'' Honest said.
"My name is Honest..."
"Huh? You're Honest, if we'll ever have you with us.
Who are we competing against to win? "
When he ceased speaking, he plunged the bow of the boat about and left.
Honest had it's head down, working things out, distraught.
All at once, a soft voice spoke,
"My child, get on the boat!"
As Honest glanced up, he saw standing on the boat an old man with white hair.
"I am the Old Man of Time."
"Why did you come to assist me?" Honest asked curiously.
''Time alone can tell us how good men are honest.''
Man of Time replied with a smile.
Whilst returning to land, the ''Old Man of Time'' said to ''Happiness'', Position, Competition,
For they were all swallowed up amid the sea, saying,
"You see, what y'all have to know, man without the truth,
Happiness is only short-term, and the job you get is a false job.
The contest will be nothing short of a fiasco.
