A simple meal
of rice and lentils,
fried fish, all homemade,
supplemented with garden greens,
spring onion, lamb’s quarters,
curry leaves, arugula flowers.
It may not seem like much,
but it is deeply satisfying.
Homecooked and garden-grown,
Your tongue may convince you
that you need delicious,
expensive gourmet food,
but your gut needs simple things,
a balance of carbohydrates, protein,
fat, minerals, and vitamins.
Meals like this,
without preservatives,
give not only a lower chemical load
but also, psychological satisfaction.
I have seen people
prioritize work and amusement
and neglect cooking, fearing cleaning,
but the price they pay is often brutal.
I don’t think my body can tolerate
outside food for more than a few days.
Convenience does not mean
it is right for you.
Try to make your own food
and keep your health good.
