On What Makes A House A Home

Home is sweet so they say,

But this other home of skin and bone

Only feels at home inside these bricks and mortar —

So long as you are here too.

A house is a prison without love

Just bricks —

If the mortar that holds us all together

Grows thinner…

Until, it’s —

Just a lego or a doll's house,

Just a rundown old place,

Just the rubble of strained love and time worn dreams.

*

Those beautiful, fragile

Intangible things —

Make a house a home worth living in.
