To all of the places I have been and known,

It is not the destination that makes a home.

As human beings, we long for connection,

Home is the embrace of love and affection.

When guidance is needed in states of perplexion,

It is support and appointment of a new direction.

After the darkest days and longest nights,

It’s the presence there to hold you tight.

It offers you states of ease and good omens,

Through the highs and lows of all life’s moments.

A cup of coffee and blanket on a stormy day,

To someone who’s there when you need them to stay.

Home are the roots planted deep in the ground,

After being lost in the world, they will remain to be found.

It continues to shape your character and type of person you are,

As a night’s summer sky illustrated with a map full of stars.

It is the water that makes flowers bloom and gardens grow,

Home is your compass – an intuition of what you know.
