A Place Out of Reach

By Leah FisherPublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

Home. What is home she thought of in depth.

She looked down at the ground as she cried and she wept.

And with tears on her face, she thought she had drowned

Where is this place that is supposed to be home. I can’t find it, she screamed, I'm with demons that roam.

She grabbed her hair with a fist full of red, she threw herself down, eyes sunken with dread.

I’ll never find home she whispered with spite, the demons that live there are covered in white.

They hide with their smiles and talk so polite. You’d never know demons, could walk in the light.

Through darkness and doorways, they steal you away. They lock in your mind, and treat you as prey. They temper and torment, with joy in their eyes; as you cry and you scream, they know your demise.

My home is lost, on a barge far away. The demons they stole it, they turned it all grey. As she crawled to her bed, she scrambled and screamed.

The demons that haunt her, don’t want to be seen.

The home that she dreamed of will never be found. The demons, they throw her, deep down in the ground. They mold her and mend her to hatred and fear; as they walk through her palace and shake it with pain, she’ll never know home till she plays the game.

The game of her demons that slip through the cracks, taking her love, and giving hate back.

The monsters, they shake her, they pick and they pull. They laugh and they cackle, as she struggles to flee. Grasping and yanking, she tries to be free.

She’ll never find home, they want her to think. She’ll never be good, or happy, or free.

She lay on her bed, crying alone. She never wanted anything, except to be home.
