Home to me is no man made abode
No four walls and a roof that leaks,
A place we are tethered too in debt
No, home is a place my heart seeks.
***
Home is my boys and their lives
Wherever they happen to be,
It’s that hug hello and welcome
A cosy place we live in harmony.
***
Home is my two sisters voices
Seeing their name on my phone,
Shooting the breeze so easily
Sisterly love I’ve always known.
***
Home is the oldest of friends
Teenage besties now forever,
A welcoming Facebook post
Supporting me now and ever.
***
Home is those adult connections
That last throughout the decades,
Memories of picnics and laughter
Chased by a goanna from Hades.
***
Home is within my heart and yours
Precious memories, love glorious,
Just you and me and us and we
Home is where we are victorious.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
