A Poem

By Louise CrothersPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

The good saying goes that without a cat a house be not a home.

This I believe to be true, as nothing seems to warm a place the way cats do

Whether it be they sit upon the front fence or window sill

Spotting a cat lounging about here or there offers flavour of calm, mindful still

Heart felt caress, a sincere hug from someone you love

Carries you home no matter where you are

The touch of their hand or a look on their face

Brings you home regardless of how you are placed.

Home is where you ready yourself for the world

Yet somehow can’t wait to return after wherever it is you’ve roamed

Though the world may be your oyster

Home be your pearl.

Shelter from every kind of storm

Home be where you create your norm

Favourite colours, sounds, food, mood

Somewhere you easily transform.

Though you may change home will remain the same

Something to count upon

A pillow to fall

That small piece of somewhere for each and every one of us all.
