Hole In My Heart

It's where I thought you'd always be.

There’s a hole in my heart

Where you used to be.

There’s a hole in my heart

Where I thought you’d always be.

There’s a hole in my heart

You’d promised to stay for eternity.

Yet you’ve shattered it, definitively.

.

There’s a space reserved

It was yours in which to stay

You’ve occupied it forever

Yeah, forever, and a day.

Was there a time when you didn’t?

I can barely recall,

The days when my heart was actually whole.

.

You claimed my heart,

And in it you did dwell

It felt as if we’d always fit together so well.

I can hardly believe

That the same one who brought such passion

Would toss our family away like last season’s fashion.

.

We went from memories that still make my heart swell

To today when I wish you’d return to hell.

My heart lays in tatters

Those I’ll never fully repair

There’s a hole in my heart

You used to be there.

Now these endless nights know only tears and despair.

. . .
