Cupid just won’t win.

Dodge it so it won’t grow,
Heart under lock and key.
No one will ever know,
And they’ll never ever see.

Put it in a wooden box,
Dig a hole in the yard.
Cover it with a large rock,
It isn’t all that hard.

Soon as it is covered,
You’ll be a lot happier.
So long as it isn’t discovered,
Things won’t be sappier.

No want for a gold ring,
It’s just easier to be single.
Romance isn’t my thing,
I just don’t want to mingle.

Love is great when it works, but hurts when it doesn't, and your image reminds me of the work of Bouke De Vries, who has inspired a lot of my poetry. I might try another soon
