Hold My Heart Careful

Going in

Please act like you know what you're doing,

when, on my heart, you do surgery.

When you open the heart valves,

know that I'll be waiting patiently.

I need you to have a steady hand,

as you make my heart steady again.

We can keep on going...living...and loving,

if you, but do it the right way.

So that, when I wake up and I am restored,

then we can just be together forever and ever.

It seems pretty intense that I fell in love,

with the one who would then fix my weak heart.

So please, hold my heart careful,

as it learns its new pulsating rhythm.

It's funny how slowly time slinks,

when you're under the scalpel.

And, the rest of the family, just wait,

some sick to their stomachs,

and some, to the game, late.

I trust you with my life,

so again, I say it...

Please, hold my heart careful.
