History, I guess

a short story of past pain and continuous healing

By Sandra TenaPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
Computer generated picture of Sandra, circa 2002, before the searing pain.

Hate is such a strong word, but my heart

Is slowly filling up with, oh

Searing pain at your lies and

The manipulative

Offending words you

Raged at me, but

You're, sigh, now

In fact,

Gone.

Synchronicitous picture taken by the author - the stranger bears no meaning in my story, it just felt like the right image to use!

Thank you for reading my piece. I have written this for the Breakup Nonet Challenge, but it also served as a catharsis.

I wish everyone who survived a manipulative relationship to be able to come out rising like a phoenix - and anyone who's not yet able to leave their abuser, to find a way to get to protection and gentle healing.

If you enjoyed my piece, please leave a comment, a heart, an insight, or even a tip if you feel so moved. Also, please let me know if you find the other technique I used for the poem besides the nonet! I had fun exploring ways to write this, and I hope you enjoyed my experimenting, too.

Feel free to check out the rest of my content. Take care, everybody! x
