Steven's Yankees Little League team
Won their regional games.
His team was now in the hunt
To win a World Series title.
His team lost their first game.
Their backs were against the wall,
But they felt they could win
With good luck and perseverance.
The team they had to beat
Had won it all before.
Steven's team had to win two out of three
To reach the World Series.
He was his team's star pitcher.
His team was counting on him
To throw many strikeouts
And help his team win.
Steven threw twelve strikeouts.
His team was behind until the ninth inning.
A runner got on base.
Then his home rum tied the game.
In the tenth inning the teams battled.
The other pitcher walked two players.
A hit loaded the bases.
A wild pitch helped his team win.
The next night Steven's team had
To play game number three.
He was not allowed to pitch
Because of his pitch count limit.
In the ninth inning two batters were out.
His team was losing by two runs.
The count was three strikes, two balls.
He hit a home run, the crowd roared.
Now the game was tied 5-5.
Steven was his team's pinch runner.
There was a player on second base.
His teammate hit a double; his team won.
